Gulf Coast
Region
Whiting holds a total of approximately 64,500
net acres along the Gulf Coast, primarily in South Texas.
The Company drilled a total of 18.3 net wells in the region
during 2005 with a success rate of 88% and plans to drill
additional wells there in 2006. At year-end 2005, the Gulf
Coast region represented approximately 19% of the Company's
production and about 7% of our total proved reserves.
Stuart
City Reef Trend
Whiting operates the Kawitt, Yoakum and Word
North fields along the Stuart City Reef Trend, where production
comes primarily from the Edwards Limestone at a depth of
approximately 14,000 feet and the Wilcox Formation at a depth
of approximately 10,000 feet. A large 3-D seismic program
is planned for this area in order to identify additional
drilling opportunities on our acreage. Whiting holds a 100%
working interest in these South Texas properties.
Frio Trend
Whiting's largest asset along the Frio Trend is the non-operated
South Midway field, which contains multiple pays in the Lower
Frio tight gas sands at depths of between 10,000 feet and
14,000 feet. The Company participated in the drilling and
completion of nine wells in 2005 and plans to participate
in another nine wells in 2006 with an average working interest
of about 30%. Reserves for these Frio wells are estimated
to range from approximately 300 MBOE to 1,000 MBOE with completed
well costs averaging about $4.5 million.
